A short drive out to the China Beach parking lot with Emily and the dogs on a busy May Long weekend and we were off to Mystic Beach. With a winding trail through the trees and over the roots for 2km its not the easiest hike. Multiple small stream crossings as well as a suspension bridge are part of the trail down to the beach. We took a spring trip to Vancouver to visit some family and Emily and I headed out to take a few photos on the one night we were in town. The salmon are still running so I made a trip up to Cowichan Bay to see if I would have better luck at finding some eagles. Early morning traffic was light as I raced the sun up and over the Malahat, fighting the urge to stop at the summit and shoot the brightening sky.
With the Salmon running and a stretch of nice weather I decided to go out Bald Eagle hunting, plus see whatever else was around during the salmon run in Sooke, BC.
