Next adventure on my Sunrise Series was to try to shoot from the top of a cliff on the side of Skirt Mountain, AKA Bear Mountain. What used to be a 1/2hr hike up the side of a mountain is now only a 5min hike up the side of a mountain as the newly finished Bear Mountain Parkway makes the majority of the hike now an easy drive. With the past 2 days sunrise shoots happening at the beach I forgot one crucial thing as I parked my car and headed into the woods.
A headlamp! It was bright at the beach, not so much in the forest hiking up an extremely steep grade one what is more of a mountain bike trail than a walking trail. Out came the ole trusty iPhone to light the way. After a brief and steep climb I came out onto the bluff with all of Greater Victoria spread out in front of me.
I set up and quickly shot this beautiful panorama during blue hour while the sun was still 15min away from rising.
The sun broke the horizon as I shot from various angles and enjoyed another fantastic October sunrise.
