Misty walk from Roche Cove to Matheson Lake
On a misty winters morning we took the dogs for a short hike. As old Axel dog is getting pretty slow we decided on something easy. We parked at Roche Cove in East Sooke and planned on walking the trail up to Matheson Lake. The trail follows the Galloping Goose which makes for easy walking for our old dog. There is an option to head down off the Goose and follow a more rustic path through the maples, oaks and cedars and the countless shades of green found in these temperate rain forests.
The light briefly poked through the trees, allowing me to catch some photos of some glowing moss. As is typical for the West Coast in February and the fog rolled back in quickly, lending interesting light to the mossy giants hanging over the trail. With shifting weather and a forecast of snow we continued down the trail, shooting a few more fall shots before turning around at the western tip of Matheson Lake and heading back down the trail to the car.
