Camino del Norte 2018 – Day 34

Camino del Norte

Day 34

Oct 6

Hola folks,
Tonight we are in the town of Valenca….right on the border with Spain. Tomorrow we will be walking in Spain again and the clock will move ahead 1 hour.
Today we left the beach town of Vila Praia de Âncora before 6:00 am and walked along the seawall and Atlantic oceanfront in the dark for the first hour.

A beautiful sunrise and clear skies but cold. 12C so we wore long sleeves for the first time this trip. It clouded over by midday as we walked as usual through forests, villages , towns and streets. Still lots of rock walls and cobblestone roads, many beautiful old homes and churches.
Today was another 36 km day…with just 2 stops for coffee we walked about 8 hours.
Santiago is 115 km from here then we plan to walk to Finisterre (the end of the world) and stop at the Atlantic.
All is well with us here.
Happy Thanksgiving to everyone in Canada…this is a long weekend here in Portugal as they celebrate their independence… Friday many stores were closed and many people were on the beach or walking and cycling.
